Joan, I walked (slowly) before I left the hospital. My surgery was at 7:00 am and I was home in bed by 10:30 am same morning. The surgery is "surgery", so there's some pain associated with any incision type deal. But, it is laparoscopic and the pain isn't that bad (and they give you liquid vicodin ). I walked up and down the block the day of my surgery and thereafter (helps with gas too). By the third day, I went to a luncheon and gave a speech.
