Claire, Loretta here! I had my band 3/9/2007 and lost 20 before the
surgery on the pre surgery diet (I also joined Curves to
workout-exercise is very important) That brought me down to 285 at
surgery date. I then lost another 55 lbs in the next 6 months (total
of 75 lbs.); then reached a plateau, and no weight loss for several
months. I was also going through a lot of stress in my life and
emotional eating. I'm stlll trying to learn other ways to manage
stress! I have had 4 fills, first in May, 2007, then agin in July,
then another in Nov. My last fill was last week on Wed. I'm trying to
get back on track and I've lost another 6-7 lbs in the last 2 weeks. I
had my surgery in Monterrey, MX with Dr. Zapata. He is really a good
dr. and I would reccommend to everyone That is interested in lap band
surgery. You can find out about him on the websit for Ready4AChange.
Check it out if you are interested. I will say that for this to be
sucessful you must be very committet to the life style change; and
keep the committment and stay on the program. It is possible to cheat
the band with foods that are easy to pass through the band. If you eat
high calorie and high carb foods that are smooth and creamy and easy
to eat, you will not lose weight. My prayers are with you as you make
your decision! I chose the lap band over the gastric bypass, because I
felt it to be less risk and I did not want to get the extreme surgery
to bypasss the intestines. Alos my husband was not supportive of
thegastric bypass and did not want that!
