Susie,
Your reason for not having more fills is perfectly reasonable. Sometimes life comes along and deals us a card and we just have to handle it before resuming normal operation.
Now that things are better, you should try to get in and get a fill. You know, I don't think my doctor actually recognizes me either. However, they always answer any questions that I have and are always willing to take a few minutes to discuss things with me. I think that most lapband surgeons have overflowing practices right now. Even some of my other physicians that I don't see very often don't seem to recognize me.
As long as you are treated fairly, with respect and dignity and receive the necessary care, I wouldn't care if they thought my name was "kalamazoo" -- LOL.
You just need to step up and charge on forward. Don't let those issues stand in the way of letting the band do it's job and help you with your original goal of losing weight and being healthy. I agree that they should have told you more beforehand, but they didn't, so now that you've been educated by your very own local support group, do what is needed.
Just my two cents.
Mary Jo
